Council is currently undertaking a review of its Grants and Sponsorship's Program.
Each year Council provides funds and in-kind support to events, activities and programs that strengthen community connection and boost local economic impact.
The aim of the review is to develop a unified funding framework (the Framework) that supports achieving our vision for the City of Mount Gambier (COMG) funding program be a key driver towards realising our aspiration of being a connected, sustainable and accessible world class regional capital. This will be delivered through a consistent and transparent approach to the management and distribution of funds across Council programs, enabling efficient and streamlined communication, reporting, and governance.
In order to develop the Framework, Council has undertaken an analysis of previous grant rounds and in-kind support requests, as well as document review and benchmarking across other local government areas.
We are now seeking stakeholder feedback on Councils previous funding programs and processes, and we would like to hear your experience and recommendations including process improvements and how we can best respond to community need. We invite you to take a couple of minutes to complete the feedback form below.
Consultation opens Wednesday 27 May and closes Friday 26 June 2026.
Following community consultation, the current Grants and Sponsorship Policy will be updated to reflect the new Framework and guide the way Council provides funding to the community in the future.
This will include the process for considering requests for in-kind support such as venue fee waivers, letters of support and community member requests. The Policy will ensure that Council funding (grants, sponsorship and in-kind) is allocated consistently, equitably and aligned with Councils vision and best practice delivery for the community.
