Why is the City of Mount Gambier doing this?

For many years, the City of Mount Gambier has delivered an annual Seniors Festival program to coincide with a state-wide celebration staged by COTA SA.

Over the past 5-10 years, the Mount Gambier Seniors Festival program has remained reasonably consistent, while similar celebrations on a state and national level have seen significant changes both in the marketing and programming of activities in an attempt to better relate to the broad 55+ audience.

In 2018, Council deferred funds from its annual Seniors Festival to provide the capacity to review its programming to ensure that it continues to provide targeted and appropriate services, programming and activities for its ageing community.

The Modern Ageing in Mount Gambier consultation will inform future planning in this space and highlight a range of needs and interests for those aged over 55 who live in Mount Gambier and surrounds.

    Who is leading the consultation?

The project is being led by the City of Mount Gambier with the assistance of Caroline Hill from Epic Proposals.

Any questions relating to the consultation or the engagement activities planned can be directed to Heidi Gajic, Community Development and Engagement Officer, on 8721 2513.

    How can I participate?

Community members and applicable service providers are invited to participate in this project by completing a survey on this site by Monday 26 August 2019.

In addition, we’re seeking interest from community members to participate by:
