A Strategic Plan will set the vision, outcomes, strategies and key actions for an organisation. In this case, it is the primary document that provides direction for Council and guides its work.
Councils are required to develop and adopt plans for the management of their areas. One of these plans is the Strategic Plan which must identify the council’s objectives for the area over a period of at least four years. The full requirements for Strategic Management Plans are set out in Section 122 of the Local Government Act 1999 (SA).
The Strategic Plan has, in part, been guided by a longer term plan called the ‘Futures Paper’ which involved extensive community consultation. This plan provided a range of long term goals and objectives that could be considered by Council.
The plan is further supported by a number of other strategic documents that underpin the planning for service delivery, respond to particular issues or consider the needs of particular age groups. These documents can be found here.
The draft Strategic Plan was presented to Council on Tuesday 18 February 2020 and endorsed for presentation for public feedback.
How can I provide input or feedback about the plan?
Community members are encouraged to review the draft document and consider if there is anything missing or something further that needs to be considered. Feedback can then be provided in one of the following ways:
