Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) 2025 - 2029

An Easy Read version of the introduction below is available here.
The City of Mount Gambier wants to make sure our city is welcoming and accessible for everyone. This means making it easier for people with disability to take part in community life, feel respected, and have the same opportunities as others.
Developed by our community, the Mount Gambier 2035 Community Vision, is a long-term plan for our city. It identifies accessibility as one of its key principles that should guide everything we do together.
To help make this happen, the City of Mount Gambier is working with our community develop its next Disability Action and Inclusion Plan (DAIP).
The DAIP will guide our efforts to identify and remove barriers, promote equity, and embed inclusive practices across all areas of Council’s work - including what we do, what we support and what we speak up about (advocate for).
The DAIP will align with the State Disability Inclusion Plan which introduces 5 key domains under which actions are grouped. These include:
- Inclusive Environments and Communities
- Education and Employment
- Personal and Community Support
- Health and Wellbeing
- Safety, Rights and Justice
The City of Mount Gambier will shape its actions through meaningful engagement with people with lived experience of disability, families, carers, service providers, and the broader community, ensuring that local priorities and perspectives are at the heart of the plan.
Co-design Group: Register by 5pm Monday 22 September 2025.
The City of Mount Gambier, in partnership with Purple Orange, will initiate a co-design process to shape DAIP actions and define the systems to support their delivery.
Expressions of interest from community members with disability, their families or representatives from organisations supporting people with disability can be made by completing this form before 5pm on Monday 22 September 2025.
Further detail about the Co-design Group, including the Terms of Reference for this group can be found here.
